I'd skip it. That little rust is probably a lot more then you think. Look under the storage bins.
For 3500 bucks you can buy a lot more stuff.
OR... if the bins look good and you feel you can ebay a lot of the stuff off it it may be worth it

Okay so the general consensus is that I could do better by buying a car that's a lot cheaper. I don't think I could talk this guy down that much.
So is it set in stone that I'll need the crossmember from this car? Or can I just drill any 12a crossmember?
I'm not trying to post-*****, or anything like that, I really want advice because I really want to do this swap.

FWIW, I spoke to the owner of this car about 4-6 weeks ago (or more). There is a lot more rust than he suggests. Ask him for additional pics, you'll see what I mean.
The real point is that if there is rust where the blurry pics shows (drivers side fender well) it means the car was driven in salt. That probably means rust in the supports behind the storage bins - wham...you just added $1000 to deal with that because that is not DIY project unless you have a lot of body shop/welding experience.
I passed on this car for that reason. Given the rust, he is asking way too much for the car.
I purchased a GSL-SE in much better condition, without the wing (or rust) for $2800. The car without the mods is maybe worth $2K, the mods are not worth $1500.
Actually, I wouldn't have bought the car no matter how low he went because I am very leery of rust and dealing with it is not in my skill set. For others, it is a minor deal.
good hunting,
Brian T.C.
