Well, I got a 1st gen rx7 with what I thought had the 1.1L 12a engine. And I ran the vin on carfax.com but the results came back that it had a 1.2L Rotary FI. Now I'm curious to find out more about the car, but I don't have an account to get the full history report.

DOSE ANYONE KNOW how can get a vehicle history report without paying 20$. thanks alot

Do you have an 84 or 85 GSL-SE? Those came with the fuel injected 13B instead of the 12A. The SE was the premium model for those years. PS, I don't know if you wan't your VIN open to everybody just in case some one with the right connections can get keys made or something.

it's an 82, I dont know what model though. thats why I ran the vin in the first place. I needed to know the model so I could order new suspension.

there was no 13b in the 82's. the 13b was only in the 84-85 gsl-se.

Car fax gives out bad info..

How hard is it to look at your engine and tell if you have a carburator or if its FI?

Ok so you dont know what a carb is?Do you have a round air filter in the passenger side of the engine ..

The 13B engines in the SE have a boxy aluminum Dynamic Effect Chamber atop the engine with RE-EGI moulded into it, with the intake running forward to a black airbox behind the right headlight bucket.

The 12A have a blue round air cleaner pan atop the engine.

On the left side of the engine the side housings will be marked 12A or 13B
