i have a question...i want to spice up the rear of my 85 gs by putting some cheap chrome exhaust tips on over the stock exhaust...at least that's what my brother recommends, but i tell him that i think the rotary heat will just melt them. who's right?

why don't you get a catback that will actually increase performance?

Hell, if you really want to do it right swap in a header, presilencer and cat back. You will have a nice gain in power. But if your tips are all rusted and squished from speedbumps, a couple of 2$ tips will be fine for a temp fix.

so the cheap tips will be fine as a quick fix, they're not going to melt or anything? (don't get me wrong, i'm all about headers and exhaust, but i'm still trying to pay for the car right now, and i just want it to look good in the interim before i work it up)

ugg, the tips will not make the car look good. unless you are talking about replacement stock size tips to replace beat down rusted out old *** tips that were on the car, believe me when I say this, everyone I know makes it a point to humiliate people who put a 3" tip on their 1 1/2" exhuast, it looks retarded and ugly, as well as making you a ricer. in the purest sense of the word (I think this is one definition of ricer everyone can agree on)
