I'll do that then.

I made a 3" over the axle exhaust system with a $155 suppertrap muffler, And it is loud as hell!!

I am thinking about putting a moroso"spiroflow" muffler in the center of the exhaust to help keep the sound police off my ass. The spiroflow has no packing to burn out so I thought it might be a good choice....

Edit: plus there only like $50

TheRX7Project 07-10-2008 08:00 AM

Never heard of them. No packing? Do they even do anything then? Sounds like just a massive restriction.

RE_TurboFB 07-10-2008 10:11 AM

They have vary little back pressure they have something that looks like a huge auger bit in side of a 4" canister!! I'll try and find you a picture of one....

Using advanced gas dynamics and sophisticated noise cancellation acoustics, Moroso engineers have developed a new series of Racing Mufflers. Specially engineered spiral baffles divide the exhaust flow into two separate paths, significantly reducing noise levels with minimal backpressure. The all-steel construction makes them durable – our efficient manufacturing process makes them affordable!

look up hushpower mufflers on jegs. they seems to be real good. im going to order one for the my TII this week hopefully. there designed for v8's i think. but should work real nice on our cars...

oh...and i also routed my 3 inch exhaust under the axle. over just seemed stupid to me. and if you squish the part of the pipe that passes by the rear axle slightly nothing should touch and give better clearence. just a little will not hurt flow because the pipe opens wider in one direction.

TheRX7Project 07-10-2008 04:56 PM

Actually those Moroso mufflers make sense, but I've seen videos of them, and on V8's they were still loud. Might be worth looking into though. We'll see how unbearably loud it is without a muffler, and if it's too bad I'll just get in there with the sawzall...

RE_TurboFB 07-10-2008 11:24 PM

V8 with a glasspacked is really loud also.

My friend has a 4G63T running 3" with a glasspacked and and a spiraplow. and when he welded in the spiraflow it made a significant drop in exhaust DB's...

Another muffler that cought my eye was the Borla XR-1 Race muffler. It has burn out resistant stainless steel packing, But they are three times the cost of a spiraflow.....

I'm going to have to check out those hushpower mufflers!!!

sen2two 07-11-2008 02:32 AM

i like them also cause there flat black and available with a turn down oulet. and all the way from 2.5 in up to 5 in or bigger!

so theres always one that will fit...

i myself havnt used one, so i dont know if it will be loud or not. but im guessing it will be pretty good.

RE_TurboFB 07-11-2008 10:22 AM

I checked out the hushpower at jegs. How do they muffle the exhaust..??? Do they have welded internal baffles?? do they have a perforated core and hight temp packing maybe..????

Hushpower 13016101 - Hushpower Pro Series Mufflers

The internal construction of Pro Series mufflers is T409 stainless steel and the outer case is fabricated from rugged 18-gauge aluminized steel. Pro Series mufflers consistently deliverer performance that is equal to or surpasses open pipe systems, while dramatically reducing sound levels across the RPM range. These round-cased mufflers deliver ground breaking sound control while delivering maximum power and exhaust system efficiency. The Pro Series mufflers work on all applications ranging from street trucks, diesel ''pullers'' and RV ''pushers'' to every class of racing on dirt or asphalt.

It kinda looks like a painted black fart can..??? witch is great in my book as long as it has something other then fiberglass packed inside of it. If it has stainless steel packing or maybe ceramic wool packing then this would be a badass muffler and worth the $190.....
