OK so I saw this pic of an FB with the exhaust routed under the rear suspension, and was wondering if anyone out there had done this, and how I should route my exhaust like that.

i did this with mine. its pretty common on race cars. i remember like 10 years ago, a friend of mine did a back to back test of over vs under, and the bend going up and over makes less power.

there is less ground clearance going under, and it does limit the suspension droop (axle hits exhaust)

its also pretty simple to do, instead of bending up, the exhaust goes down slightly and under, muffler doesnt move much

anything over 3" wont fit

I'm doing 2-1/2", and when I build my ported motor just plan to add another pipe (with x-pipe) to keep it flowing nice https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

how about instead of goin over... run to the side

muffler clearance is probably the issue..

theres one at the track, that has a short header, muffler, and a turn down, its loud, but not any louder than the other ones....

although if you run it to the rear, you do have more room for mufflers

Well I'm on my way to go do this now. My fart cannon hasn't arrived yet but I'm just going to run the bulk of the exhaust (straight pipe). **** expensive mufflers, and cheap mufflers don't last (which gets expensive). It's not my DD so straight pipes + fart can for me. We'll see if I can take it or if I puss out and get mufflers.

OK on the exhaust note, (no pun intended) I know the pacesetter header is garbage, but just how garbage?

j9fd3s 07-09-2008 12:50 PM

i guess they vary in quality? ive got one that looks good except its not equal length, collector is nice, bend are nice

just be aware that header and only one muffler is going to be LOUD, the rotary exhaust opens much much faster than a piston and theres no exhaust valve in the way, so lots and lot of noise comes out.

TheRX7Project 07-09-2008 01:17 PM

Yeah, I know it's gonna be loud, I'm beyond the point of caring. I can't justify $100 / muffler to keep it quiet. Maybe later. Stupid extra-hot exhaust gasses...

a glass pack in the middle, works well and is cheap. it will burn out, but even burned out is quieter than a pipe
