Help https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

I've got a 13b (used) installed and can't get it to start. I checked and so far I have fuel, and spark. I'll add more later.

islandrx 05-28-2004 10:50 PM

When I try to start it, it fires as long as I have the starter revving.

adding to the list, removed smog pump removed acv and blocked currently exaust is not hooked up, new battery, checked igniters, compression good (ghetto method) I need more ideas on what to check

Thanks

Sounds like the engine is flooded. Or at least it has the symptoms. And if its a 13B, its FI (Am I right?). Its got compression, spark and fuel - which means it should start. Since it wont start, try putting your foot to the floor until it starts. Might be too rich a fuel mixture for proper combustion, just needs more air. But since it is Electronic in some sense, maybe theres a vacum line or something not hooked up or criss-crossed. Poke around.

how long was teh engine sitting? try letting teh rotors soak in either ATF or MMO overnight and retry.

also get a new set of spark plugs if u havent already.

was this an FI converted to carb?

it would help alot if u said exactly what u did and what you were attempting.

Pull start it. Sometimes after they sit a while it is the only way to get one started

I'll try new plugs. it is still injected. and I do have the exaust disconnected including the tube from the cat.

islandrx 06-06-2004 09:00 PM

I put the new plugs in still no go. It wants to start but will only hold on 1-2 putts after I release the starter https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

timing possibly since no one else has mentioned it... and pull starting is usually your best bet

islandrx 06-07-2004 08:55 PM

Update: I was considering pull starting but I thought I'd re-check a few things first (thanks to Chris) I found no fuel getting to 2nd rotor. **** https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif here we go again does anyone know how or where to test injectors???

thafox 06-08-2004 12:23 PM

injectors are under the manifold i dont know how it should measure cuz i've always used a scope when testing them at school man i hope u get it started i know i'd b frustrated 2 hell right now........u could also want 2 check the jumperwires that are on the innerfender on the battery side going twards the car just follow the positive wire u'll find it

islandrx 06-08-2004 09:15 PM

I still need to know if there is a way to test injecters using some simple method or can I take them to a shop to get them tested????????????????? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

thafox 06-08-2004 09:37 PM

well u can do it the ghetto way by unpulgin 'em and try to start it to see if it sprays anything

The injectors are held in place by the fuel rail. Do I just hold them against it or will the pressure blow them off the rail??

they might pop off but just to be safe hold them in place

islandrx 06-12-2004 10:50 PM

I pulled the fuel rail and tested the injectors, sure enough 1 was not working. After putting in a spare I had and reinstalling all the crap that goes on top.

I fire up the BEAST (the flames were about 2 feet high)

I was lucky to have a extinguisher. It looks like the fire didn't do much damage but I'm back to figureing out yet another problem. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif
