Like the topic says, my 1985 has cruise control, and i've found the coast/resume on the stalk, but i cannot find the switch to power the cruise control on (it has cruise, i've located the control box under the hood). my Cigarette lighter is in the centre panel, not under the drivers side dash. i mention this because i've previously found pictures showing it next to the cigarette lighter, about where my choke **** is.

My 85 GS has it next to cigarette lighter lower right side under steering wheel.

ok, my power window switches are in the centre console, they are side by side.

there is space for 2 switches behind them in the console, but only one switch. it's a one way switch (not 2 way like the power window switch)

does this sound like it? (it doesn't do anything, but alot of the switches in the car haven't been reconnected by the previous owner).

Does that switch have what looks like a little light on it? It is a tiny square that is orange. If it does than that is it.

ok, i got my hopes up for nothing. that switch was the (disconnected) rear wiper switch. at least now the rear wiper works... whoever resprayed this car did a terrible job of putting it back together. there is a blanking plate next to the rear wiper switch tho, so i'm guessing where the button would go.

i THINK i found the wiring leading to it. 3 wires, female plug, all matching the wiring colours according to the factory service manual. time to source a switch for it.

on that note, does anyone have a good link to what other cars these puppies share parts with (switchgear, washer pumps etc). surely mazda didn't develop generic parts like that just for these cars. and gen 1's are thin on the ground at the wrecking yards around here.
