Coolant temp sensor Ques.?
Hi all, I have an 85 GS and I noticed yesterday that my coolant temp sensor wasn't working. At first it was while warming it up, then I got out of the car for a moment and when I got back in the gauge was'nt reading. My friend came over and we located the sensor at the bottom of the radiator, a two wire connection. We uplugged and and tried plugging back in and nothing. I dont feel safe driving around with a heat gauge not working, especially if it ever started to overheat. Should I get an aftermarket gauge? I tried to look for a new sensor online to replace the stock one. Any suggestions?
yea bud thats not the coolant temp. sensor. The coolant temp. sensor is located back of the engine on the driver side(on the rear plate)directly under the oil cooler lower water hose. Its a single wire but dont get confused with the oil sending unit thats the big gold sensor.

Thanks for correcting me on that
I just want to say thanks again for the info. I checked the wiring diagram in the FSM and located the wire under the oil cooler. It turned out the connection was loose. So we tightened the clamp and got it to fight snug and it worked.
