I'd say your carb is ****.Try spraying it with air freshner and then do what smog fighter said.Let us know how it goes.

What happened to this site yesterday. Everytime I tried to get to it, I was at some site called Spectrum. And I was Sober.Dammit.



RB issued me a UPS pickup slip and also suggested the Zip Bag idea. They said that UPS will take it even if there is a gas smell to it if you show them that it is a Empty Carb I am sending.

To UPS on Monday.



Still trying to figure out why when you turn the pulley to Lead notch your Disti Rotor is pointing one way and you turn it again (1 revolution) it points the other way. The disti goes right in in either way. I'm so confused.

I marked the line on the 80 Disti but when I changed over to the 84 Dist I had know refference points. See if I ever do that again.

But I already did the line up on the Gear_Shaft thing.

You will notice that if you turn the they pulley one complete revolution the Disti Rotor will be pointing in the oposit direction and the Gear Dimple is also facing the oposit direction.

After looking in the book, I see that it is normal for the distributer to be facing in opposite directions when you only go 1 revolution.

see how there are 4 "points" on the reluctor wheel?

That would tell me that a spark occurs every 1/4 turn of the dist. shaft.

At every 1/2 revolution, there is compressed combustible material that needs a spark,

and to keep the spark from going to the wrong spark plug, they turn the rotor @ 1/2 speed of

the crank (eccentric) shaft.

That's why the rotor looks like this.

I have these same Pic's.

If you look at the center of the top shaft where the rotor goes on you will notice 2 Dot's one smaller than the other. Is this the starting point when lining up the the Gear shaft with the Dimple on the gear with the line on the lower shaft. Disti Pulled. Top dead center lead make on the pulley.

I noticed when I re-installed the Disti with the arrow on the rotor in the opposite direction I got a **** load more power. And better Idle.

Could it be that when we did the rebuild that I installed the pulley 90% off???

One thing I did not mention is that, The motor is an 80 and the Disti is an 84 which is installed on a 84GSL. The timming is lined up in any configeration.

I relly feel stupid on this since I thought I new these machines inside and out.



Any Help from you or Luis or Mike on this one would be great.

Your dizzy is a 84 then you must time it accordingly to the newer dizzy way.I just aligned the marks and dropped it in.I need to check it with a light tho to make sure its on.

pull the #1 plugs and look in, just to verify your timing marks are in the proper position.

Then go from there. If you get more power and it runs better, then you are close to

optimal timing as it is. But if you need to pass an emission test, (In California we check timing)

then verify your marks. It only takes a couple of minutes, and will save you headaches.
