Smog Fighter 03-19-2003 01:36 AM

I think the trans yoke is supposed to look like it's all the way in.

Not past 75?

Sounds like you may need a new clutch...?

Does it slip like a mofo?

I remember on my other car (read: non rx7) when my clutch went and I couldn't get higher than 75 km/h. Everyone driving behind me was getting sooo pissed off like I was doing it on purpose or something. Got that fixed quick I can tell ya. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

i agree about that, it sounds like a slipping clutch perhaps. and about it running too rich, i wouldnt worry about the smell or the burning eyes, thats what makes a rotary in my opinion, but if its effecting the performance, try adjusting your idle mixture. its the screw located below the fuel inlet and returm lines.

Mine does the eye burning because I have no cats. Now it smells rich,

Racer X 03-19-2003 04:42 AM

Yo smog fighter. Is that a FB tranny next to a T2 tranny?

Hereonout 03-19-2003 04:53 AM

id bet it is....and about the burning sensation, i cant get enough of it. it kills, and i LOVE it.

Racer X 03-19-2003 05:15 AM

It looks like a S4 T2 tranny(like the one on my garage floor)Seeing as it has a NSS on it with the harness dangling there.I still need to get another FB shifter and housing for my swap. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Hereonout 03-19-2003 08:47 AM

got plent of them here. does anyone know a bullshit way to set the mixture? something like screw all the way in and then 1 and a half turns out or something like that?

but the thing is that it running so rich its blowing a smoke out of the exhaust like a white smoke and i have to pass smog living in cali unless somebody knows that one person who can hook it up with smog papers.

mikebeezie3404 03-19-2003 02:45 PM

ok guys i think i fiugured it out the reason y i couldnt get past 75 was th exhaust gasket the one between the cats so i fugured that one out thanx for all ur suggestions https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Smog Fighter 03-20-2003 12:42 AM

Chances are, if it blew out the gasket between the Cats, then it might have a plugged cat behind that

gasket. If it is still stock cats, pull the rear one out and look through it. You should see diffused daylight

through the element. If it's all blackened and you can't see through it, replace it. That would cure some

of your emissions problems.

How long have you owned it and what area do you live in?

There are assistance programs out there for people renewing their tags, but there is no cost limit

for "Change of ownership".

j9fd3s 03-20-2003 10:53 AM

i thought when you renew you only get exempted for 2 years after that it has to pass, is that right?

mike

Smog Fighter 03-22-2003 12:43 AM

When renewing, you need to smog it every two years (unless it's a gross polluter then it gets

tested for two consecutive years in a row). When selling, it is the sellers responsibility to

smog the car (and perform any repairs needed) for the buyer.
