I have a 1983 RX-7 GSL that I am thinking about putting in storage. A friend has offered to let me use a corner of his warehouse. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to prep my car for long term storage? Is it even a good idea to do it?

You're not the Haltech Injection Tuner man. I guess he's not a member of this site.

How long are you planning on storing it?

- keep the windows up

- fill the gas tank

- remove the battery

- 1.5 teaspoonsful of oil down each throttle bore

- turn the engine by hand through 3-4 revolutions

- run some Marvel's Mystery Oil through your oil a few days before you actually stop driving it

- you can also keep the tires off the ground

personally, i don't think storing it is as big a deal as what you do when you go to take it out of storage. whenever you go to start it:

- turn the engine by hand again through a few revoultions, if it does stick DO NOT force it through ... turn it in reverse instead

- bring new plugs with you

- change the oil after it starts

- take it easy (no high RPM escapades) until you have run the stored fuel out of the tank

To Jeff20B, I plan to store it indefinitely. I've been told it is worth about $1000 and I really don't need the money, but I do need the garage space. I love the car, but with 2 small children and 1 on the way I just never get time to drive it.
