Hello!

I am new to this site, and pretty much new to Rotorys all together. I have owned several otehr sports cars, and I recently set my sites on a nice little 1985 Rx-7. I really dont know what to look for, as I inspect and drive the car. I know the obvious stuff, like rust spots, and erroneous rattles, etc, but if there are Rx-7 specific things, it would be great to go in informed.

Thanks in advance

Joe

Where do you live?

Different people have different priorities. There are some who buy 1st gen's for

their looks only. Others for handling. Some both. Some of us are restricted

by smog laws, some aren't.

Will you leave it stock, or will you shoot for the "500 horses at the wheels" mark?

Just some questions to think about.......

Check in front of the rear wheels wells for major rust holes. They get some big spots in there from the rear storage bins.

Rust?? In an rx7? Your joking aren't you?!?

For rust:

Check the firewall from inside the engine bay, check the boot seal, check the top corners of the boot, check the roof (all around the drainiage points and opening mechanism), check the door trims for rust and under the window seal of the doors if you can, etc, etc.

I was just going to ask "where does the clutch master bolt up?" But I just realized that

I am looking at an aussie car instead of a north american car
