ok i was driving last night and my headlights went dim and all else i hit a bump and all was back i carged the batt over night andf now it isnnt charging i cleaned all contacts and cables any help apreciated

well, if its not the battrey or the cables its gotta be the alternator

Don't rule out the voltage regulator.

i think we just talked about this a week or so ago. i beleive mike(j9fd3s) said that if the car runs without the battery, the alternator is fine. if it fails, then the alt is not working properly.

get a battery/alternator tester is the easiest way to find whats wrong

Yep, thats right, The battery is only for starting it, then everything electrical runs off the alternator. If your alternator is bad, your battery will go flat because its not being recharged.

i found the wire goin from the alternato is broken replaced it and it works fine thanks

Cool! Its great when its only a little thing. Good on the wallet more importantly..
