85 gsl-se swap to a S5 T2 question
#1
I heard that the t2 needs the front cover and oil pan from the 13b that came out of the gsl-se. Is that true? I have the front cover and the oil pan. What kind of mods does the tranny need to hook up to the stock tranny mount? I tried looking for it on here but not familier with this site. Any info would help. This is my first rx-7 or any import car. i only gave $300 for it and it has only 112000 miles on it and the body is sritght. the interior is in great shape but needs a few interior pieces painted. if anyone can help Id appreciate it. The oil pan will allow for this.
As far as the tranny I'm not sure. Pull the TII tranny mounting bracket and compare it to the SE bracket.

thanks for the info but i dont have the t2 tranny mounting bracket. The only one i have is the SE bracket.
You don't need the T2 mounting bracket. I made a spacer out of some spare square stock aluminum to put on top of the stock transmission mounting bracket from my FB. That is the best solution I've seen. I followed Directfreak's thread over at the 'Club and it worked for me.
Check my thread (it's stickey'd at the top) and it will probably have answers to a lot of your questions.

Search in my name over at the big board. Essentially what I did for the tranny mount was take the stock lower SE mount, drill a hole in it. Then I made a couple spacers so that the pinion angle was the same as stock. Then I took the upper S5 tranny mount and placed it through the drilled hole with the spacers between them and then sinched it down. Easy, cheap solution.
