is a 79 rx7 a FB or a SA model? cant read vin

the vin on any pre 81 rx7 is going to be SA22C-xxxxxx the first number tells you the year, so sa22c-500001 is a 79 m/y car, sa22c-600001 is a 1980.



in 81 in the US market they went to the US 18 digit standard system, jm1fb331xb050001. if you notice they kept the same info, so 81 is still 500001, 82 is 600001 etc etc



the rest of the world stays with the non US system, for a while, eventually europe goes to ours, but its jmz....



japan its still FD3S-600001, i dunno about the rx8
