78 And 79

what is the difference in a 1978 and a 1979 first gen i thought the first gens started in 1979 so what is the truth do parts for a 79 fit a 78 thanks for any help

they started making rx7's in march (might be february) of 78 as a 79 model. you can spot the super early ones, by the hood prop on the right hand side (its actually on the hood too), no right side mirror, and theres something else but i dont remember

I once put my '79 against a mates "78", the tail lights on the 78 appeared to be a fraction smaller.

There is a speaker grill on the right side of the '78 dash. Also plaid seats.

nope 79 model parts fit the 80

well thats what my parts manual says

but its amerrican



so i have no idea if thats right

couse they did have 78's in aust

78 and 79 are the same except for the minor changes, all the parts interchange. My dad bought a '78 new and still has it. We haven't found any differences except for those mentioned.
