I read somewhere that some people use 4x108mm bolt pattern wheels on 1st gens instead of trying to find 4x110mm wheels. Anyone out there doing this? Anything I should know about doing this? I can get 4x108's cheap... I used to build Focuses, which use 4x108's... so any info on this is appreciated.

Also if not, if anyone needs CHEAP custom wheels check out Diamond Racing Wheels. http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/

They'll make wheels for you for ~$60 each IIRC.

Oh also I was wondering what kind of backspace is needed to run an 8" wide rear tire and 7" wide front.

AND EDIT: Found the Edit button!

Here is my opinion on this. They make 110MM wheels to fit 110MM hubs and 108MM wheels to fit 108MM hubs. If there was not a difference they would just make 109ishMM wheels Stay away from mounting the wrong wheels on your car.

Don't run 108 PCD wheels on your 110PCD hubs. Unless you like wheels flying off. The only reason to run them is if there is enough room on the hub to get a second set of hole drilled that are the right PCD (and marked, so you don't mount them through the wrong holes).

I have seen wheel studs break with smaller PCD differences, and they only do it at speed

The wheeld studs are meant to hold the wheel on, and the centre 'spigot' on the hub is when the loads are meant to be carried. If you fit wheel where the centre hole is too big and is not snug on the spigot, the loads through the wheel studs goes up exponentially and is not recommended.............

U will put too much stress in the bolts. Don´t do that!!

Just try to find cheap 4 X 110 mm and put the right wheels in your cars.
