Alright, I've tried searching, and I have come up empty. Where do the guys who in race in the Rx-7 Spec series, and others like it (IE SCCA), get the polycarbonate, lexan, or speed glass windshields?

 

ive never seen one for sale... mazda used to sell the rear 3 windows

 

my recommendation would be to have a local plastics shop make it, I've had them make several boat windows.

 

Clear One sells flat sheets through Summit and Jegs. They're pretty cheap. Not sure how easy they are to form to the right shape, but I did see someone put one in a Mustang once...

put a sheet of clear mylar over it to reduce scratching.

 

that's what I'm looking for, but FL to CA is going to cost a small fortune for shipping.



anyone else know of someone on the west coast? having one made, not cut to fit is $300- only $50 less than one that is molded for the car.

 

EP and GT guys of all types were buying NASCAR take-offs. They replace windshields after every race, you can buy them for $10-15 from people that get them out of their dumpsters.



Unless I'm unaware of it, no Spec7 series allows lexan/polycarb windshields (or hatches or quarter windows), so asking those guys will get you funny looks.

 

you kidding?! I swore I just saw a spec 7 car with a plastic windshield, that also had the brackets around the edge.

 

SPEC-7 never used lexan. It was a cheap class with very SPECific things you can do to get you on the track quickly and cheaply. It's also has run it's course and is a dead class.



People have taken a SPEC-7 and added a lotta performance parts to it and race in a faster class.

 

yeah, I decided to not run in the Spec 7 class. I have too many modifications.
