i dont think the belt is rubbing the wrong way and from what he tells me is that the smoke is coming from the exhaust and not the engine bay. but it never use to smoke as much as it does now, it only started to smoke this bad since the day he replaced the belt. What could he have mestup on the engine when he threw the belt?

well If the belt that he broke was for the water pump, he may have overheated the engine, thus killing the coolant seals.

Maybe he lost the airpump belt and he's killing the catalytic converters.
