Dont tell me how tix it if its flooded, i know all of that. my problem is this, it cranks fine, but when the gas pedal is pressed, it wants to choke itself out. like it has too much gas. but if the gas pedal is floored, it is fine, will run like a champ. i took out the plugs, specificly the leading, covered in gas. replaced the distributor cap, which was worn badly. now should i go ahead and replace the rotor button and plug wires? do i need carborator work? any advise would be helpful.

i would make sure the rest of the ignition is working fine, and then maybe start looking at fuel.

1. is the return line plugged?

2. sunk floats? it seems to be going around

3. bad accelerator pump?

Replace the rotor, plugs and wires. If that doesn't help then you might want to check your float to see if they are sticking

Some people(like me)like the first gens over the second gens thats why we spend so much on them

ok well it seems most of the response is the float, i figured it was the carb. but i was unsure. i have cleaned it a little with carb cleaner, but im thinking about trying to just get a new carb. oh and yes, its been sitting for maybe 4-8 months......float maybe?...ill try some things, but thanks for all the feedback. :bigthumg:

ok a lil background. the day i got it, monday, it ran fine, cranked right up, put gas in it, drove it around getting keys made, plugs, distributer cap, ect. anyways, runs fine the day i got it. tuesday, i crank to go to work, dont even get out of the driveway and it starts this ****. cant go anywhere unless its floored, jerks stalls runs like hell, but yet idles fine. now you say maybe the float is stuck, well i know nothing about a carb, but im learning, so how would i "unstuck" them?

Gasoline today is not like it used to be. It gums up very quickly. If your car sat for 8 months, the carb most likely needs to be pulled apart and cleaned.

You will must likely find sticky floats and gummed up air bleeds and jets.

If you guys let your cars sit very long, USE A FUEL STABILIZER! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
