the first thing you should do is get a copy of the FSM. go to Foxed.ca for a copy.
next, make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. this is absolutely essential because if you start messing with the idle adjustment screws (one for speed and one for mixture), and you have a leak, it will make your life far more miserable than it needs to be.
when you're sure you have no vacuum leaks, clean the carburetor as best you can. if that doesn't work, then start adjusting the idle mixture as per the FSM.
