What are the most common engine swaps for the repu?

I am getting ready to buy (yes finally ) one that has 83 12a with a header on it.

Can I get a 13b rew in there?

If so what needs to be done aside from the ecu. motor mounts, tranny, driveshaft.. ??

If the 13BREW isnt the best route what is?

Ito can you help?

Fd3BOOST 12-14-2003 06:38 PM

After doing some reading appearently they came with a 13b stock so why would someone swap that out for a 12a?

rdahm 12-14-2003 06:42 PM

It cracks me up that the 13B in the REPU is Carburated. I thought the rule was 12a = carb 13b = FI. Guess that doesnt apply in old school rotary.

Ideally I want a 13brew TT in there .

Jeff20B 12-14-2003 07:39 PM

The first 13B I ever saw had a carb. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I swear I loved my B2200 88 pick up truck. Nothing like running 12.4 on street tires and still using the truck as a work truck. Picked up core engines, trannys. Went dirt bike riding with the bikes in the back. Fishing you name it the truck could do it and do it fast.

No one is answering my question?

any engine that will fit in a 1st gen will fit in the repu. the 67-85 motors all mount from the front cover so anything up to the fd motor will fit in by just putting a 12a front cover on it. the fd motor is a tad harder because the crank angle sensors are on the front cover, so you'd have to either weld up a subframe, or make the front cover mounts on the fd front cover

I have a spare Fd subfame so I could get that someheomounted in there. But I would still need to make mounts for all the other stuff.

Thanks for teh info.

Dave, the engine bay is a bit narrower then a Bseries mazda truck. But you could install just about any engine in there. If your going to to use a 13B rew some custom work needs to be done to the engine front timing cover. find yourself the original 13B oil pan that came with the repu. Let me know when you get to the point that your in the building stages. I'll try to help ya...

Fd3BOOST 12-20-2003 10:40 AM

You are the man.

Sure thing. It will be most likely a spring project but i will definitely take you up on the offer to help.
