First of let me start by saying that I am an easy customer to work with. And this thread is not an attempt to slander Atkins rotary in anyway. I just want to bring into light MY situation and how they have conducted business with ME. I would also like to comment that the PM’s were used to better illustrate the situation.

Long Version:



So let’s begin:

I met the Atkins family around 2 years ago. I initially met Dan when I was looking for a rear right tail lens. Even though he could not help me he seemed to be decently cordial. As time progressed I met the entire family at different meets. I BS’d with them on a regular basis if and when they would come to the meets. About a year passed and I needed a few gaskets to swap the front cover on the REW engine that was going into my first gen. I purchased just under 100 dollars worth of gaskets. A few months later Dan Removed the front cover bolt and I also traded him Transmissions(see dialogue below).



All seemed to be well between the two of us. Then stuff started to hit the fan. Their engines started to blow and people started to complain. The NW slowly was pushed away. Atkins no longer sponsored any events and tried to persuade other rotary organizations to withdraw as well. On top of this some unprofessional actions were taken By Atkins Rotary(I will not divulge into these at the moment). Throughout this entire situation I tried to remain neutral despite some of my closest rotary companions being royally screwed. Well time passed and things in a sense have seemed to blow over a small bit.



Well a little less than a month ago I contacted Dan Atkins on the forum via PM and asked this question:

This response made me quite upset because I had been neutral through the entire situation. I waited a few days and no response was received. I sent Dan Atkins another PM that read:

At this point I was a little more than upset. I was a proven customer yet they did not want to do business with me or provide legitimate evidence that I was badmouthing their company. I wrote this in response:

I have been nothing but cordial to you and your organization. I am aware that you have the right to decline my request, however I would also assume that a company of your level would approach such a situation in a profesional business manner.



I have also traded a REW tranny for a T2. Good trade for me? No. Good trade for you? Yes! I could have purchased 2 T2 transmissions for that price. This was after all the stuff with your engines happened as well, I just gave you the benefit of the doubt. In no way do I expect any sort of compensation now.



I am interested as to what was said about me. I am not a gossiper and I felt I did a good job of eradicating myself from the conversations.



I am a proven previous customer. I have had work done by you, traded parts and also purchased parts. So why the sudden change. What is the deal Dan?

Well alot crap has hit the fan @ me over the last year and @ this point, I don't have verry many true friends on this forum or NP... I also have learned that it is verry verry hard to make\keep friends that I do business with..



So what I have done is IF I hear anything throu the grapevine weather it is true or not I will NOT deal with that person...

Well Dan, that is ok. You are allowed to have your own feelings on the situation. However I must admit that I do not understand your personal business techniques. It is rather upsetting to me that you would deny business to me even though I have proven myself to be a valuable customer. How you personally conduct business affects me in no way. There are many other rotary suppliers locally.



I would like it to be well known that despite this whole situation I have stuck up for YOU personally. I have always valued the general courtesy between the two of us. I think that you are a very nice person and even though your parents business has been "run through the muck" I still feel that you as a person are ok.



I have since found 2 other options for center irons locally. So there is no need to conduct business with Atkins Rotary.



I would also like it to be stated that between me and you I am going to post this in the GG/BG section. That is my right as a forum member and previous customer. Up until this point my service from you has been ok. This post will more be related to the last attempt to conduct business.



I hope that you do not take offense to this...it is purely business.

I would encourage Dan or anyone from the Atkins Family to comment in this thread. I am not trying to hide anything. I felt as if our relationship was ok. And apparently it is not.



If you are reading this please use caution when dealing with Atkins Rotary. I know that this is just one person’s account. But if a search is conducted I am sure that you will find many other sour deals that have occurred with other forum members. I do not standalone here!



If you would like to comment On Atkins Rotary please free to do so. But please leave the trash out of this thread. I would hate to see another informative thread be locked.

well, i myself relly think this blows. after all, i kept telling him to go there and get it if they had it. actually it relly pises me off..... but it just goes to show how PREJUDICE some people can be.a company has the right not to do buisiness with who they choose to, yet they can't be PREJUDICE to those people. are they like that with there employee's also????? and with the thread over on the other forum....http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=553882 it goes to show they can still buy there way around.

You know Allan, I am curious to see if they comment in here. I also posted this over at Rx7 club and there was an overwhelming response in the short 1.5 days that the thread was open. Posts were well constructed and professional for the most part. I am still quite confused/upset with the way that they approached the situation and have yet to hear well articulated explanation from the Atkins party.



There were many unanswered questions over at Rx7 club. I would still love to hear a specific explanation. I have tried to be more than accomodating to Atkins during this process. I even offered an oppurtunity for a PRIVATE conversation that I would not disclose to anyone. They never responded so I am assuming that they are not interested.

It is three pages long and a little bit of a read. However I am sure that you will notice that there is an overwhelming concensus that Atkins was "in the wrong".



There is no doubt that Atkins Rotary has become very "shady" in the last 2 years that I have been around. It just baffles me how they are still in business. I can't believe that they can ruin so many customer relationships yet still stay in business. And I find it embarrasing that such an organization even exists in the NW.



Moreover, I think that it should be mentioned that this situation was a shock to me. Litterally just a few months ago I wen to Dan's shop and BS'd with him for hours on end. Why the change now? As I have stated I do not dislike the Atkins Family as people I think that they are just a little backwards on how they approach their business tactics. Atkins never did anything special for me, and actually in my own opinion got the better end of the deal.

I would also like it to be well known that I also posted feedback in the Atkins sub forum over at Rx7 club just as Kathy had asked. But big surprise! My post was deleted. I am not sure of the party that completed the action. I was not posting over there to be rude, rather I felt it was important for any future "friends" to be apprised of the situation that I was in.



Why have a sub forum with a specific feedback thread if you filter all the bad ones out? It baffles me....

I know what you are talking about. I myself spent 1,000's of dollars with them on the supercharged setup.

First I went with the 5" charger W/Carb. And the car was awsome,,,, loved it, ran great with not to many problems. And it was easy to work on.... Some of you remember that car. It was a fun one.



But then. Atkins came up with the 7" blower EFI.......EFI / WITH A 7" BLOWER....Holey ****.....

At this point I'm thinking ????????? this should be bad ass ...... lets do it .......Sounds fun.....hehehe

Wrong........ Things did go wrong. The Hp was low, not like i thought it would be. had some heat prob's

most of you know the Issues we were having.

Thanks for the comment Dave. I always enjoy hearing from others that have had similar problems as me.



I am still interested in hearing from Atkins.

I have read enough over the past couple months to avoid dealing with Atkins in any way. They act like they're the only game in town. Laughable.



A clear example of how not to do business. It's really a shame too since historically they have had a good reputation.



And their responses to these threads just buries them deeper.

At first I thought that they were decent people. They SEEMED fairly friendly. Good quality parts at affordable prices. I have since talked to A LOT of people about them. Mostly as a "eaves dropper" listening in on a conversation. It is a general concensus that in the NW they are WORTHLESS. Sure they provide decent parts at affordable prices but their customer service SUCKS. I have decided that they are not worth my time and sure don't deserve my money. There are many more rotary providers in the NW that are available.



Meanwhile they parade around like they "own" the forums. I am sure that they have also tried to manipulate nopistons as well. Personally I think this is garbage. I can't believe that they would do this. To me it is kind of like bribing a cop. Forums are here for the interest of the members not the sponsers. Don't get me wrong the sponsers also play a pivotal role however members need to aprove of the sponsers. I personally will NOT sponser RX7club. I am not sure of the specifics over here but I do know that Atkins is not a sponser. Personally I am very happy that this is not the case. I personally would like to give Scott and all the others that make this forum run a pat on the back. It really proves this forum is far superior.
