I'm most likely going to be there for this. I wish my car was in better shape though. Ian, Is the rally going to begin in Homestead or end there? what time do you think the BBQ will be? I'm going to try to bring my g-friend but I think we should end the rally in Keylargo! J/K, although it would be neat. I may have to leave the BBQ early and go to KL to my favorite restaurant! I broke several bones in my foot and will be in a cast, but my wife and I plan to attend anyway.

I will be on a bus coming back from Alabama....

We just got our plans for the Auburn trip two weeks from now.



We had a hard time getting hotels that Saturday night, so we will be driving back that Saturday night. Supposedly getting to Gainesville around 5 or 6 AM. If I sleep on the bus on the way back, then get in the car and drive to Homestead, I may make it.



But then, I realized Homestead is a long ass way from Gainesville, so I'm still out. I'd have to find a way to get there Saturday night, and that just can't happen.

Here is some information regarding the picnic to be held on October 14 at Homestead Bayfront Park.



Directions to the park from US 1: Make a left onto 328th st (8th st./Lucy st.) and head to east all the way, about 7 1/2 miles till you get to the end of the road. Keep on the right hand side and go straight.



From the Turnpike: Get off Exit 6 (137th Ave/Speedway Blvd.) and make left. Go till you head to 328th st. Then follow the directions from US 1.



At the park, there is a $4.00 entrance fee per vehicle. Stuff people in the hatchbacks of your cars! ;-) There is only one picnic shelter at the park, and it is ours. When you pay the fee, ask for directions to the shelter.



The rally is expected to end there around 11 am or so. We have the shelter reserved from 10am, so you may arrive there at 10am (though there may not be anyone there at that time).



Let me clarify something.



If you are attending and plan to purchase the catered food provided, please let me know how many are with you. I need a firm count.



If you are planning to come and ARE going to bring your own food (not purchasing food), please tell me as well. My goal is to have the proper amount of food available to those who are going to purchase it while at the picnic.



It is a bring your own drinks/soda/water picnic. Please, no alcohol during our family oriented event.



The food will be supplied by Shorty's BBQ. The costs should be around $6-$7 per person, depending on how many people have signed up by Thursday at 11 am.



There is a volleyball court/net and ball available to us at the picnic. And if someone could bring a small TV, it would be nice (I am a football fanatic). Please let me know if you are bringing a TV.
