What do you all think of a 245/50 tire on a 7.5" rim...too crazy? Or do you think it would fit nice enough. It's for drag racing and I'm trying to get a good tire combo, i'm looking at the NITTO 555Rs, but the thinnest tread they make is the 245 for a 16" wheel...i'm thinking it would fit, but i'm not sure on how insane my handling would be on the days i go play around with the car...

Well, you seem to already know what you want from this. I'd say go for it if this is to only be used on the drag strip. A 245 tires usually best fits a 8" to 8.5" rim, but for a drag tire it should be OK. But for use on the street you'll want a better matched wheel/tire combo.

I'm a little worried about blowing the tire right off the rim,lol....

I mean, I have to drive the car on the road everynow and then...the looks on the face of every honda owner is priceless!

I've seen dudes put 245's on the stock T2 rims and they didn't have any issues. All because it CAN be done doesn't mean it should be done, ya know? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Limited use on 7.5" rims shouldn't be too bad. But if you need to mess around with them on the twisties and back roads, be careful. Too wide of a tire for a rim can make for a wiggly ride. The 555R is a great drag radial but not all that good for handling in the first place so that farther complicates the matter. It probably won't be that big of a deal, but there are better choices out there for street tires that handle well.

I've decided that I will more then likely purchase a set of 17s w/ 225 rear and 215 front for street...and just put the 245s on my existing 16" setup(borbet type e's). Nothing wrong with having separate wheels to play with. I only race maybe 1 to 2 times a month tops...and will drive on the streets at least once a week...so, it should all be good...thanks for your input!

Smart choice. You don't wear your golf shoes when you go bowling and vice versa, so don't use the race tires on the street. It'll cost more up front but you'll save money down the road by not using up the good tires by daily use.
