I'm looking to get some real tires on my TII. I'd like to put some 15" Weld Pro-Stars or Drag-Lites on with some BFG drag radials. Does anyone have experience with this set up? What DO you go to the strip with?
I'm thinking I want the tire O.D. to be less than the stock 24.5 inches, and I don't think I can do that with the stock 16" rims. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif |
just get two stock rims and put BFG drag radials...... you don't have 500hp yet https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

if you're going to buy another set of wheels just for racing, you should just get a set of M/T or Hoosier slicks instead of the drag radials.... M/T makes slicks with a short enough sidewall to lower your overall O.D. and increase your acceleration even on 16's I believe.

Any idea where to look for some short drag tires? I have Jegs and Summit Racing catalogs, but I don't see ANY Hoosiers or M/T's with an O.D. less than 26", and almost everything is for 15" rims. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif |

M/T does make an ET Street tire that's 25.9" but it requires a 16x9" rim. If you're serious about drag racing and can afford it, just get some 15" rear wheels for slicks. You can't beat the traction. M&H is another popular company that doesn't get much press because of M/T, Hoosier, and Goodyear. You may want to check look into them too. If you have high horsepower, you probably shouldn't too short of a sidewall on a drag slick anyhow since it does need to wrinkle on launch and run low pressure. I had 20" slicks on my one car and ran them at 12psi for the best 60' times. Those things were so small the front lip was almost on the ground... |
