hi guys, just wondering how big of a tire can you fit under an fd. like what overall diameter and what width/backspacing before needing the BFH or having to roll the fenders.

I run 17" rims with 8" up front and 9" out back. 235/40 front with 275/40 back. The rears are Nitto's however.

285/40/17..... thats the fattest stock wheels i have seen on an fd.... and i have it :-D
|
like Fike said stock, biggest I have seen are the 19x10 245/35s on Jay Laub's wide body FD.
over fenders and body kites can take it 19 inch tires but it seems box stock 17's are it without issues XXXRacer |
I have 18X10 with 285 S0-3's (offset +52)
There is VERY LITTLE clearance between the rim and the trailing arm. No rubbing |
Yeah 18x10 with a 285/30 in the rear is about the max. IF you get the right offset.
I run 18x9.5 on all 4 corners with 265/35's without any rubbing |
thanks for all the info guys, it is good to know what rim sizes will fit. the other thing i wanted to know is how tall of a tire would fit. an 18" rim could have a tire with a 26" diameter or larger. tire size effects gear ratio and tire footprint(contact patch)and i was wondering how tall of a tire would ft before the wheel well would need to be made wider(as in front to back).
edit: and about sidewall markings, i only know the first is the width, second is %of tire that is sidewall, and the 3rd is rim size. i just dont know how to put it all together to say that when you stand the tire up, this is how tall it would be. |

does anyone have a good pic of like a 245/35 on the stock wheels? how would that be fitment wise on the wheels themselves? in the front wells?
