Finally got the replacement differential for my fd. Its a clutch-type diff off an s4 T2, alot stronger than the pos stock torsen that comes in the fd. I snapped mine like a twig shifting to 2nd gear when I went from a light on street tires. I was gonna go easy from the light, but Vosko HAD to try and race me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif I'll be installing it Friday at JR's shop so the car should be back on the road this weekend. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/flamed.gif Vosko https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

cool, i had no idea that TII diffs are better than Fd diffs, why didn't u save ur self some money and time and get a KAAZ unit? you probably gonna break that fc unit you got there eventually, especially you use drags or better tires.

Turbo II 12-09-2002 05:33 PM

i had no idea either. the vosko curse lives on JK

Silver Ninety Three 12-09-2002 05:36 PM

The FC units are very strong. I know several guys running consistant 11's on them launching hard on drag radials. The problem with the torsen is that there is nothing to absorb the shock from launching. If the load exceeds what the differential can hold, the little gears inside strip. The engagement of the clutches help soften this shock. Even at my cost, a Kaaz would have been close to $700. This one cost me a mere $190 shipped and it won't go klunk klunk klunk like the kaaz does. It should last me for a while. If it does break then I'll probably get a Kaaz.

1Revvin7 12-09-2002 05:37 PM

cool, so are u still using the stock halfshafts? I heard the Kazz unit only clunks if you don't use their specific oil in it.

Silver Ninety Three 12-09-2002 05:40 PM

Yes for now. I'mn going to need axles in the future too. I hear mixed stories about the kaaz. If it was cheeper I would have gotten it now. That thing is almost bulletproof.

Silver Ninety Three 12-09-2002 10:48 PM

you bastard

Silver Ninety Three 12-09-2002 10:49 PM

Whats the best gear oil to use in this diff? Remember its a clutch-type. Does it need something with friction modifyers?

Cheers! 12-10-2002 12:12 AM

Cool.I never would have thought of using the FC diff in the FD.You learn something new everyday. :bigthumg:

Boostn7 12-13-2002 12:52 AM

:squint: HEHEHE....Ihor you biter :squint:

My Turbo II diff lasted with tons of abuse and the only thing that I ever damaged was the ring and pinion......after measuring both diffs it was obvious it dropped right in the FD casing.

Good luck and upgrade the axles please :bigthumg:

turborotor 12-13-2002 10:26 PM

vosko 12-15-2002 01:26 AM

TII's are practically indestructible unless you have 500 HP https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
