Ok, I need help quick, I have the option to buy brand new konig monsoons 17x8 with no tire for 450 shipped, or I can also buy 18x7.5 that have been slightly curbed, but they also have 3 80% tires and one that needs replaced for about 650 shipped. So what do you guys think, how do 17s vs 18s look on the fd? I was thinking about maybe buying the 17s and then maybe buying 2 wider ones later. But Im thinking the 18s would look badass, plus I would then i wouldnt have to have 4 tires put on and balanced........ decisions https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

edit: If I got the 17s, would the stock tires off a 16" inch rim fit? how does that work?

Go with whats in you budget...but i'd get the 18" and No you can't but a 16" dia tire on a 17" rim... or am I stoned anyone?

Well, Id probably be willing to spend a 800-900 on wheels and tires, so im pretty much limited to used rims off of ebay or other sites. I really like the look of having wider rear tires with a big lip on them. So the problem with the monsoons is the 18s only come in one width, does anyone have pics of these rims on an rx7 or a supra?

Why would you put a narrower wheel on? You already have 8 in. wheels.

Konig's are cheap meaning they will bend easily. So I say if you really want them then get the 17's instead of 18's so you have a little more tire to deaden the impact of bumps and stuff.

if these are your options..

save the funds.. stay with the stockers..

i agree wtih amp. stock rims are good!!!! better than most. the only reason i upgraded was i got wider rims!

turkhunter 06-16-2003 08:35 AM

Opps, I didnt mean 800-900 for both, i meant around 1500 for both, but thats only if i decide to not try and peice together a used single turbo setup from a parts dealer in japan. So ive decided to wait on wheels, definitly not get the monsoons though. I didnt know the stock tires were 8 inches wide......

You were gonna pay $1500 for 17x8 konig wheels?

Dude I only paid $1700 for 18x9.5 SSR comps and they look WAY better then konig's ever will.

turkhunter 06-17-2003 05:35 AM

I ment I am willing to spend that much, the konigs were only 650 for the 18x7.5 with tires.

FikseRxSeven 06-17-2003 10:00 AM

you seem like you really want these konig wheels, if you're really gunna buy a set, buy the cheaper one, that way if they bend or something, you wont get too mad, i recommend saving up for a lil while longer and buying worth while rims,........ and i dont think 7.5" will cut it for you single set up plans
