sonuvacracker, I think I've got a problem. I rented a spring compressor from Pep Boys yesterday. I haven't actually tried anything yet, just preparing in my head. This particular spring compressor goes through the middle of the spring, and hooks onto the top and bottom, and draws the hools toward the center, compressing the spring. Won't I need to mount the spring to the strut while compressed? This would make it impossible with this tool. I've seen the kind that grab the spring from the outside, on either side, but they didn't have that available.



Am I going to have to buy the other kind, only to use it once? Or will this spring compressor work for me?

bah, I went and bought the correct spring compressors. I don't know how long the whole process took, but it wasn't bad.



I drove it for the first time this morning, and it's awesome! With the KYB AGX's on the softest setting, the pot-holed section of my morning commute was a whole lot less painful than my worn stock suspension, and the cornering is amazing. I must've been really used to the body roll, because on a long sweeping turn at 65 mph it felt like the car was leaning into the turn. I've got the 4 point strut bar with the torque brace on my vert. That thing is awesome. It is a better design the the CP racing bar. You can tell that just from looking at the pictures. It really stiffened up the front end and made turn in better. Plus it seems to reduce cowl shake in the convertible. The torque brace is a good design and bolts to the air pump bracket. It is very strong and does not allow the engine to move on its mounts much. The throttle is much more responsive and there really wasn't much more vibrations transmitted to the chassis. It is a great piece and worth the money if you can afford it. The only problem with it seems to be that it rubs on the hood liner a little but I could really care less about that.
