i have the stock 16X8 wheels for an fd. Will i be able to just put them on an fc without spacers up front?

turbovr6 04-05-2004 04:42 PM

I'm allmot positive you need spacers

FikseRxSeven 04-05-2004 04:56 PM

yes you need spacers

UniqueTII 04-07-2004 03:27 PM

And your handling won't feel right with the spacers.

Just curious why think it won't handle right with spacers? If the suspension is setup correctly it shouldn't matter. There are tons of circuit cars that run them, in japan at least. Pan Speed, Re, r-magic exc....

UniqueTII 04-08-2004 03:57 AM

That's what I heard from someone running them. Maybe Srce can explain more instead of just posting an icon, since he does nothing but read about this stuff.

Where could i get spacers from?

sunshine 04-18-2004 10:42 AM

Its true..the cars "neutrality" is gone with the spacres. Just keep your hands on the wheel!

Either use H&R 25 mm spacers, or the Corksport 25mm spacers. Those are both hubcentric.

Which one should fit ?

H&R SPACER FORD/MAZDA (5:114.3/59.5) 25MM

or

H&R SPACER FORD/MAZDA (5:114.3/67.1) 25MM

That second number the hub diameter listing. Go measure your hubs.

FD3S_wanted 04-29-2004 09:36 AM

Thanks I will check that. Hopefully it's going to be one of these two.

sunshine 04-29-2004 02:32 PM

If I remember right - our (FC) hubs are a bit less than 60mm. So the 59.5 sounds exactly right.

I think the 67.1mm is the FD hub size.

So in this lies a problem. You are putting a wheel with a 67.1 mm hub onto a wheel with a 60mm hub. That is a dangereous combination, as your studs will be bearing all the weight of the wheel instead of the bub which should be doing that job. The consequences will be broken studs...and I hope for your sake that they do not break while in motion!!!

I suggest that you also invest in a pair of centering rings. Sorry for the "evil" link...but that thread is extreemly informative for those who do not run stock wheels.

FD3S_wanted 04-29-2004 06:06 PM

Is it why there is a kind of lip on the spacer shown in this thread ?

http://www.teamfc3s.org/forum/showthread.p...hlight=fd+wheel

sunshine 04-29-2004 08:33 PM

Yes. That lip is what holds the weight of your car, instead of the studs. That lip is what the above diameters is refering to.

FD3S_wanted 04-29-2004 09:00 PM

Ok, so I should get the spacer with 59.5 mm lip and put a ring over it to get the 67.1 mm of the FD wheel ? Did I get it ?

Thanks a lot sunshine!

donhayes 04-30-2004 11:27 AM

If what FD3S-wanted said is true, where would be the best place to order that equipmant? I don't want to get the wrong thing.

FD3S_wanted 04-30-2004 05:42 PM

Today I checked the hub diameter and it's 59,xx mm. I also put the FD wheel in the FC hub and it fits perfect, no need of centering ring.

So I need this spacer: H&R SPACER FORD/MAZDA (5:114.3/59.5) 25MM .

Am I right ??
