Yo, 1990 T2.



Trying to get the brake pistons to retract on the rear brake calipers. rx7turbo.com says use needle nose pliers and that isn't getting it done. Anyone have any tips on how to get the piston to retract to get the new pads on there?



We're also changing out the brake lines to SS Braided ones, trying to get the flare fitting for the brake line off without a pair of flare nut wrenches...is it possible or should we go buy the wrenches?

first buy the flare wrenches you'll be glad you did, to retract the piston put the old pad back on and squeeze it either with a pipe pair of pliers (the 12in kind) or get a screw clamp, be prepared for you master cylinder to overflow slightly if its really full. You have to squeeze REALLY HARD to get it, but its pretty easy.

there is also a tool for the rear caliper, your supposed to turn

the piston in, not squeeze it with a clamp.

yea we invented one, small vise grip, 9/16" open end wrench, insert and rotate.

I had the same problem, but my calaper was off the rotor. I had to buy a special tool to screw the piston back in. It was a little cube with prongs welded on.

with the caliper off the rotor it's 100 times easier to use the method i described....how much did you pay for this special tool cause im about to make a vise grip on a wrench and sell it for that price....
