so my buddy bought a v90 volvo wagon (its a facelifted 740 from the 90s), and swapped in an ls1/6speed.



the v90 seems to have a really rearward brake bias (like a lot of newer cars), the rear rotors are turning blue 1st.



is making the front brakes bigger a way to even that out?

i think with even the bigger brakes in the front the higher pressusre in the rear will probly still make them heat up just as easily. maybe a different or aftermarket porportioning valve would work better? or you can look on the bright side rears brakes are cheaper to do then the front

are they locking up first under hard braking? If they aren't locking up first, but obviously are overheating, you could try getting some better quality rotors in there, brembo makes some good blanks. If they are over-biased, aftermarket bias controllers are pretty cheap and easy to plumb in, http://www.performancebodies.com/store/pro...p;dept%5Fid=310 and as a bonus, you can adjust on the fly, even use it as a style of linelock if you wanted

I experienced no such rear bias on my old '93 940 Turbo wagon. Brakes were remarkably good, although I never tested them under race conditions. The car could stop on a dime, though.

its got ABS still. hmm line lock would be cool, it IS a v8 after all, not much good at anything else....

They may be running softer pads in the rear to keep the rotors from rusting and the calipers from siezing, but you can still have bias towards to the front despite that.

It's only an LS1, there's a guy in the PNW who has a well-over-500hp PRV V6 in his 740. He uses it for stage rally, mainly for breaking diffs and watching spectators run for cover from the gravel spray. It's blindingly fast when he can keep it in one piece, which he can now that he went for super duper mega overkill suspension and rearend parts.
