j9fd3s 01-29-2003 12:37 PM

is it for the fd?

mike

vosko 01-29-2003 12:40 PM

of course its for the FD

SPEED_NYC 01-29-2003 01:04 PM

you know, for 10 sec et's you only need 6 points... your adding unneeded weight and taking away more of your interior room by having those bars accross the windshield

how much was it?

lane_change 01-29-2003 05:11 PM

Did you get a chromoly cage? It is over 40lbs lighter, also that is a 10 point pictured there. How much was the cage that you bought?

Scott

vosko 01-29-2003 05:13 PM

chromoly was twice as expensive. the cage i got was $180 + shipping

vosko 01-29-2003 05:17 PM

Silver Ninety Three 01-29-2003 06:14 PM

I need one too

SPEED_NYC 01-29-2003 06:32 PM

ok i like the looks and price of the BAR you ordered. how much leg room (seat travel) do the driver and passanger loose with that kit?

vosko 01-29-2003 07:06 PM

i'm retarded i put the wrong thing sorry LOL

Jerk_Racer 01-29-2003 08:14 PM

To hell with worrying about it's weight. For those that want to get one but are worried about weight or what not, get as many points as you can live with. That thing will be worth it's weight in gold if it ever gets called upon to save your ass.

**** happens. A good cage is the best one time use only insurance policy you can buy.

vosko 01-29-2003 08:16 PM

i agree with jerk racer!

TYSON 01-30-2003 09:27 AM

Better check to make sure swing out door bars are legal for your class. I seem to remember reading somewhere that swing-outs weren't legal. I can't remember what type of racing that was for though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

jackdhammer 01-30-2003 10:15 AM

Does the swing-out bar mod to make it easier to get into and out of the car effect the inegrity of the cage?

vosko 01-30-2003 10:16 AM

i have to find out about swingouts. if i can't have swing outs i'll have to deal with it and lose 30lbs :smirk:

j9fd3s 01-30-2003 11:20 AM

haha start running https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

mike

SPEED_NYC 01-30-2003 12:10 PM

swing outs are legal in every import drag racing santioning body for street class or street tire cars

TYSON 01-30-2003 12:29 PM

Hee Hee. My info was from long before there was import drag racing. Used to have a subscription to HOTROD. Surprising NHRA would bend on a rule like this.

lane_change 01-30-2003 09:07 PM

I was told that my cage would cost about $700 to install. Mine was a full cage that went around the roof and te dash and doors, etc... That was too much for me so I am selling my Kirk Cage and having a custom chromoly cage built and installed instead. I believe that the 6 point will cost me $900 installed for a chromoly cage.

As far as weight goes, if you are serious about drag racing than weight matters. Not for street driving or safety but you will not find a competitive race car with a heavy cage, lightweight equals more speed. I am not going all out drag but to me 30-40lbs is alot to save. That saved weight with the spare tire, jack, etc.. and you could save almost 100lbs which could be the difference between a 11.0 and a 10.9. I went chromoly.

jackdhammer 02-02-2003 10:33 AM

Whats the word on installing a cage in a touring? Will i have to get a non touring model or go with a custom set up?

vosko 02-02-2003 12:20 PM

my car has more than enough power to get in the 10's i'm not worried https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

JadedX 02-03-2003 08:42 AM

vosko 02-03-2003 09:34 AM

JadedX 02-03-2003 11:44 AM

JadedX 02-03-2003 11:56 AM
