hey im ording my rims tommorow from the place near me im still between gtc and gt7s but they come out to almost the same price so ill wait till last min at the shop. what im really stressed about is width. 18x8 fronts(or should i go 9)
with the back wheels can i go with 10" wide i really want 10" none of that 9 inch crap. and they dont have 9.5" in that rim. so what do i do id like as much feedback as possible , preferably b4 tommorow (monday) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif oh and if uve got 10" wide rims in the rear and uve had no trouble PLEASE tell me so i dont have to bit the **** outta my nails waiting for the rims to get in to see if they rub. im rembling so ill end it please help any advice is appreciated. thanks mike |
If you have coilovers with 2.5" diameter springs you can fit 18x9 front and 18x10 rear with tire sizes 255/35/18 and 285/30/18. This keeps the overall wheel and tire hight within a few mm of stock.

9's and 10's are fine...but if u are ordering the gt-c's ro gt-7's be prepared to wait a minimum of 45-60 days seeing as how mackin industries can't keep up w/ the demand for the wheels...
|
damn really. well im more concerned with wheel clearance.
im on stock suspension right now i was gonna get a greddy sometime this summer b4 i went on to suspension... think ill have issues? oh yea am i gonna have to roll my rear finders im not too into that idea |
im fitting 18x10 50+ mm offset on stock suspension and no rolled fender!
|
I am running SSR GT3 on my 3rd gen. 18 x 8.5 front and 18 X 10 rear.
The only problem I've had was rubbing on the left front fender. I had the fender rolled and its been great. If you are going with 9s up front be sure you have the proper offset. |
whats the offset on the front? it should be like 50ish for 9's
|
good thread. How about you guys with 17" rims running 8's and 9's? Or with 8.5's and 9.5's?
|
I think Justin is running ssr comps in 17x9.5 all around. I dont know the offset though
|
i think +47...can i get a confirmation?
|
I am running +37 front 18X 8.5
and +41 rear 18 x 10 |

[quote name='rsjetjock' date='Aug 4 2003, 09:08 PM'] I am running +37 front 18X 8.5
and +41 rear 18 x 10 No, I've never had a problem with the rear fenders. I had a problem with the left front fender. I had the front fenders rolled and have not had a problem since. Keep in mind that is also with the car lowered 1". |
ill give you guys feedback about the 17x10 wheels as soon as i get mine on my car

I'm running 18x9.5 all around with a +50 offset, on stock suspension. NO RUBBING at all. |
yea tire size plays a big factor as well. i put an order in for volk gt-c's
18x8 fronts 18x10 (+43) rears bridgestone s03's: 235/40/18 fronts 175/35/18 rears ill keep u posted once i get em if i have rubbing i doubt it though |
i would suggest 285's in the rear and 9's in the front...
|
think that offest is high enough? are you going to roll the fender?
|
i am running 17x8 +38 225/45 and 17x9 +38 275/40 . i HAD TO ROLL my rear fenders! my fronts need to be rolled but not as bad as the back. you can go with 18x9 all the way around with 285/30/18 and it won't rub with high offset. if the offset is not available for with 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 i believe that is the suggested rim size from mackin.... they will give you the offset https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

NO.
You shouldn't put a 285 on a 9" rim, the tire is too wide |
woops justin is right. i am wrong.... 265/35 will work on 9" oops lol
|
Do remember the taller the profile the thinner the wheel can be. So to simply say a 285 won't fit on a 9" wheel is not a complete statement. For all intensive purposes this is accurate for the FD unless you were running some crazy small diameter and the profile was tall.
I would suggest to keep your offsets as close to the stock wheel +50 for wheel bearing's sake. +45 seems to be one hell of a good number for the FD. 9.5's front and 10.0s rear work with this offset. Anyways, I'm here now so if you guys do have any questions I'm sure I can help walk you thru your thought processes. Peace, Rishie |
well, im running 285/40/17 on my rear and i had to roll my fenders to get keep my passenger side to stop rubbing, i have a feeling i have camber problems though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

Typically for a GTC fitment on the FD the most functional and popular fitment for us is one that's not in their books. Do remember that it may depend on whether or not you have a BBK. However definitely on stock brakes this is the setup as suggested above.
18,9+50 Face I - 255/35 18,10+47 or +50 depending on lip depth. Face I - 285/30 Should you want a curved spoke like Face II you will sacrifice some lip depth relatively speaking. For deeper dish go face I. For mixed face go with: 18,10 +44 run 265/35/18 in rear. The 285 will retain closer to stock gearing while having wider contact patch as well within each related tire model. Rishie Most common tire for Johnny Fitment: Bridgestone S03 |
