caliper brake pistons different sizes
Not sure if anyone is have my situation. Just want to rebuilt my front brake calipers. But, problems! The pistons are not in the same size. There has four pistons, but two of them are smaller. That means two of them are regular and with the rest of two is smaller. This is killing and looks like not Rx7 caliper.
So does anyone have this kind of Mazda brake caliper? ok to advice ...

That feature is the same as a leading shoe drum brake. The pistons over the pad that see the rotor first have a mechanical advantage over the trailing pistons. So if the pistons are the same size, the leading end of the pads wear out faster, and the pistons drag in the bores as the pads get tapered.
The smaller leading pistons exert less pressure on the leading end of the pads, so the pads wear evenly, and the pistons stay square in the bores. This is typical of all modern multi piston calipers.
Usually done on front calipers only, as the rears wear so little anyway.
