Trouble with gearbox / clutch ?
My 93 rx7 has got me stumped once again. the problem is when i change gears it feels a bit notchy. its not smooth like it should be and it grinds just a little bit when i shift into 5th. I have rebuilt the master cylinder and fitted a new slave cylinder. The clutch is a new cushioned button which is only 4000kms old. I looked through the inspection plate openinng to check that it was fully disengaging, it is. I can move the clutch plate freely when the clutch is depressed. I removed the gearbox oil to check if it was low and found it was over full. It is supposed to have 2.5L But i removed just under 4L. Could this be cause of the problem?
the houses and the gap inbetween the blocking ring and gear are worn.syncros are probly worn to, it cant slow the gear enough for the sycro t do its job.
i tried putting a used tranny in mine hopping the gears were smooth and 5th was the same. real common

i read a thread a while back that said mazda put weaker syncros in 5th gear under the assumption that no one should be shifting too hard into 5th, unfortunatly thats not always the case and the syncros dont last very long.
so ya from what i've heard most all used transmisisons have the 5th gear grind.
