OK I have a '83 12a and the manifold from an '80 12a. Should I use the '83 gasket or the '80 gasket? The only difference I see is the little "slot" at the bottom below the two center ports.

if you are using the 81 - 85 intake manifold use the 81 - 85 manifold gasket. Exhaust gases come from That little slot.

If you use a 79 intake manifold it does not have a spot for that slot because of the thermal reactor design... If you using blocking nozzles in the rotor housing nothing will flow through that slot.... and i guess it doesnt matter then...

Blocking nozzles? I'm using the ealier manifold on the later engine. I noticed my earlier engine has a hole there but it doesn't look like it goes to anything?

So what do I need to do to run my '80 manifold on my '83 engine?

you need to block that passage, otherwise you get an exhaust leak.
