well, I just bought my first S5 (89gxl, black 5spd pics to follow). I guess you could call it a rescue since its been abused with all the typical ricer "mods": shitty rattelcan paint job, burnt clutch (seriously, if you let it out in first gear the engine barely stalls and the car doesnt move) busted front end, sawed bumper (theres lots more) now I get to fix it.

had a question though: if the 89 six port actuation is from the smog pump (and not the cat like on S4's) then why are there tubes running from the cat to my engine compartment? I dont have the car infront of me (it gets delivered on saturday) so I cant look again right now. but I guess the worse case scenario would be to unhook the tubes, throw some grease on the actuators, floor it around town and see if they moved, but I thought it would be easier to ask you guys.

thanks!

you can quit reading now,

but since you're still here: this is freakin awesome! I've always wanted a black S5! this car will be absolutely BEAUTIFUL when I'm done. and fast too! this will be the HOTTEST thing anyone's ever seen (on four wheels) and of course there will be plenty of pics to follow, and updates along the way!

****-dang! looks like I'll have to slow my beer consumption to free up some more pocket change for this beast of a machine they call a mazda.

Regardless of auxiliary ports, the air pump puts fresh air to the catalytic converter to assist in the, uh, converting of emissions stuffs.

well, I still have a corksport presilencer (origionally on my 86) from when I put the stock cat back on the 86 (long story) but this presilencer doesnt have the tube that goes from the exhaust to the engine (for the aux ports). just dont want to go through all the trouble of putting this exhaust on just to find out my aux's arent working (like what happened with the 86) and then have to re-do it all over again (in an apartment complex while my manager isnt looking)

man I cant wait till tomorrow!

If I have this straight, you have the presilencer with no air tube, and an S5 engine. If that's right, then you should be fine.
