I was told by the local Mazda Service manager that "dinosaur oil" was better for RENESIS engine than any sythetic oil...any opinions

i ONLY use CASTROL products in my rx-7s i currently own a 85, 86, and 93 and prior to rebuilding my current engine i was also using Castrol only in my fd and the engine parts were in great shape upon teardown (i was rebuilding due to coolant seal failure) i personally recomment castrol!

mazda says synthetic is bad, they say it doesnt burn right, but i think what they really mean is it doesnt lubricate the seals right?

This has been discussed to death. Synthetic oil is FINE for a rotary however it's benefit vs. cost can be debated... mazda only says no to synthetic because they had a problem with ONE particular brand and they cannot simply say dont use X brand so they must say dont use synthetics.

RACING beat (#1 rotary tuner in US) recommends royal purple

MAZDASPEED used IDEMITSU which is synthetic! so what does THAT tell you! used in 787b!

i only used Castrol DINO Bones though! becuz i ve had good experience and can't justify 7/gal. for synthetics when i have not seen ANY evidence to prove they "are better" then dino oil other than longevity, but honestly i WANT to change my oil regularly to keep my engine in TIP top shape! Synthetic (long wait between intervals oil change) are for "vip" luxury owners who dont like to do maintenance (and definetly dont do maintenacne THEMSLEVES , lol)

I only use synthetic. It seems to keep my 119k motor running great every day. It burns quicker than dino oil but who cares because it keeps everything lubed up better. I still change the oil every 3k and it comes out cleaner every time!
