I'm using ordinary 20w50 car oil in my fireblade engine.

I worked at a motorcycle dealership for a long time and I work for a powersports parts distributor now, so I know a thing or two about bikes. I've also been riding/racing for about 20 years. DO NOT USE REGULAR CAR OIL!!!!!! Most motorcycles share the oil for the clutch, motor, and transmission, and there is much more stress put on the oil which breaks it down faster. Motorcycle specific oils also have anti-shear additives for the wet clutch systems. You also have to consider bikes are running 2-3 times the RPM's most cars are and the oils are formulated to withstand that kind of abuse. Theres good reason why it costs so much more than Pennzoil. Castrol and Honda make the best motorcycle oils IMO.

don't use car oil. I prefer to run the mobil 1 10w50 full synth. A good snth blend is the castrol. Go to a motorcycle shop and buy it there.

I was told it'll be ok, you'll just have to change it more often - having said it's better safe than sorry with your engines life-blood. Maybe ordinary was a bad word, I didn't exactly mean cheap generic stuff.

You can use car oil, just dont oil that has energy conserving stamped onto the back. The clutch will slip if you do.
