well i am just going to install a wideband O2 senesor and meter in a day or two... do i need to keep the original O2 sensor too or can i just replace it with the wideband??

 

You can keep them both. Unless you are using one bung for both, in which case, you can just swap them out when needed.

 

The o2 sensor bung might be too hot of a location for the w/b sensor, but it will let you know if its too hot.

 

whatif i take out the original O2 sensor and put the wideband in its place.. Can i just do that?? Will the car run properly with its original O2 sensor out.. I will wire the reference wire to the wideband O2 sensor...

 

what ecu are you running becomes the question...

if stock, then get an extra bung welded in

if pfc turn off the O2 sensor in the etc screen

if other I don't know, but I do know that a WB O2 puts out a completely different voltage than a narrow band O2.

I am using a Power fc.. So i can just turn off the O2 from the commander and it will not effect anything...



Then the Wideband O2 will not communicate anything to the ecu.. is that ok? or do i need to connect it to the powerfc somehow?

 

disconnect the narrow band and leave the clip unplugged. Narrow bands work on a 1 volt range while widebands use a 5 volt range so they are not compatible. Just turn the O2 input off on the commander and you will be set. Otherwise you will always see a rich condition while cruising that you will not be able to tune out because the pfc will be trying to achieve stoich while reading atmospere amounts of O2.

I believe that if you puchase a datalogit you can tune using your wideband, the pfc and a laptop.

 

you can do it just using your wideband and commander, but it is a pain in the ***, and Rotary Performance still has not gotten any dataloggits in.

a wideband is just for tuning and dyno runs. you dont need to use it full time. you could but there's no point. you should keep the stock o2 sensor in full time and just use the wideband when tuning...
