i haven't seen a thread about his on the forum so i took action... if you don't know how to fix the play in the steering box yet then this will give you allot of help and allot better handing car(no more weaving!)... okay heres how it goes, locate your steering box(dur) you will notice that there is a rather large diameter nut on the top, remove it it is like a lock nut, after removed you will see the threads of corse, and you will notice in the middle is another bolt looking thing with a slot in it....

ok what you do is take a pair of needle nose pliers, and use them to tighten the large nut till it wont tighten any more, then you will take a screw driver and "loosen" the middle bolt, what this does is pull the assembly up into the race, after that is as tight(by loosening it) you should be able to tighten the large nut some more, after doing this until both are tight feal you steering wheel! wow no more play!!!!!!!!! , but what i noticed with mine after about 10 to 15 minutes of driving the middle screw loosened up, to fix this all i did was find a nut that fit it, loosened it all the way and just threaded the nut on and tightened it! it has not come loose one bit and i have bean driving every day for a month now!

happy driving

a few correction to my stupidity... when i say loosen one the middle bolt i mean turn counter clockwise, at first it will be stiff so turn hard, oh and when your done make shure you put the large nut back on and make shure it is tight...

the steering 'box' is the black cylinder that the shaft goes into from through the cars firewall.

If ya wanna get rid of steering slop try replacing the inner and outer tie rod ends before you try and mess with that EVIL R.B. steering box...

Gen 2's have a rack and pinion setup, completely different. Replace tie rod ends still applies though.

this may sound dumb as well, but what would happen if you loctite the middle bolt to keep it from loosening up?
