I lost the paperwork to my Profec B. I need to see the hose routing for hookup to an external wastegate. As well as the pin settings for the same.
Can someone post up a pic of the page in the manual that shows this. Or possibly fax it to me @ 772-398-4294 Thanks. FYI - I had a 30PSI spike when the unit was switched off and I am positive I have this sucker plummed in wrong. Your help will not go unapreciated.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png |

No worries bro, you don't owe me nuthin!

Pictures don't help me much....I either have to read how or see one in person.
So the Out goes to the Wastegate...top or side? And the In goes to....? Then on the controller itself...it goes to a 3-way and one side goes to the FPR and the other side goes to the upper intake manifold? Is that the same if you have an aftermarket FPR? I am trying to install mine as well, and this is the first time I have ever done an externally wastegated one. Also, where is everyone installing the controller at? In the cubby below the stereo? How do you remove the cubby door thing on the R1 models? Thanks, Scott |
wtf? the vac lines through through the wire wall into the passenger compartment and into the unit?
what if the line poped off u would be screwed |
Yep! I had a hose hooked up wrong. Bigger problem the Downpipe has basically cooked the vac lines going to the wastegate actuator. Time to wrap the downpipe and see if that helps. I am in the process of running all new vac lines. Actually I have a bunch of little projects going on here.
1. I am putting in a stock fan shroud with an electric fan mounted on it. 2. wrapping downpipe 3. all new vac lines on the boost control setup. 4. making sure I hook up vac lines correctly this time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif Hope to have this done by Sunday. I might go to an open track day and test her out. |
So how exactly do you have it hooked up now? I have heard way too many different ways how to. I would just like a description of exactly where you have the OUT line running, where you have the IN line runinng, and where you have teh vacumn line from the actual controller running. What do I do about my SX FPR? I don't believe their is a vacumn source on it so how would I T into it and the Intake Manifold?
Thanks, Scott |
How to hook up the Profec B to a external wastgate:
1. Run a Vaccume line from you intercooler pipe prior to the intercooler to the side of the wastgate. 2. Run a seperate vaccume line from the same intercooler pipe to the IN side of the profec B controler. 3. Run a vaccume hose from the OUT side of the profec B controller to the top of the wastgate. 4. Run a vaccume line from the intake manifold to the Profec B main unit inside the car. The reason you want to run the lines from the intercooler pipe right after the turbo to the wastgate is because you will be getting a more reliable boost souce because it hasn't been restricted by the intercooler and all the pipes and throttle body, this will make the boost control more accurate. You shoul also use 6mm or -6an steel braided hose for #1 this will also help. Also don't forget to switch the dip switches to the proper position for external wasgate or you will over boost. |
Cool....so don't worry about the Fuel Pressure Regulator than for the boost controller itself?
I will have to tap my turbo for a nipple, but that shouldn't be too tough. So do I run a T between the IN side of the controller with the Intercooler Pipe and the side of the Wastegate? Thanks, Scott |
You can do that and it will work no problem, but I've found the boost will be a little more stable if you run seperate lines for each..

my blitz sbc-id came with ss braided vacuum lines... they are pretty nifty https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
