Its the sound that a turbo makes with no bov, kinda like a wooshy rattle. Except I can hear my bov too. There was a hose that went into my apexi intake, into a little nipple. On my new intake I don't have a nipple to hook it too yet, so its just kinda hanging there, so does that have something to do with the bov?

I'm going to inspect my BOV tomorrow, maybe clean it up or make some adjustments to it. Hopefully that will clear it up.

Make sure the hose to your bov is as short as possible and runs right to the intake manifold. Mine was originally t'd into the boosty gauge line and the bov wasn't opening properly and making that sound. Otherwise you may want to adjust your spring.

94touring 01-15-2003 09:50 PM

Yeah, i'm gona shorten the line up a bit cause I do have some excess hose. I will also play with the spring to see if that helps. The car has been sitting for a couple weeks, so maybe its just acting funny. Tonight was the first night I really took the car out since I installed the new turbo. I haven't even gotten on it yet, just trying to make sure I have all the bugs out first. I need to do something with that other hose hanging in there too, maybe adapt it into the intake like the apexi turbo.

If that doesn't fix the problem, I wonder if adding another bov would help. Don't some of you guys use two bov's?

Silver Ninety Three 01-15-2003 10:00 PM

Just get a different one. The apexi is too small for single turbo and is known to leak

94touring 01-15-2003 10:03 PM

I may do that then, cause my friend who bought my apexi turbo could use my apexi bov and I could get just get a bigger one. What is a good bov? Something that doesn't sound like ****.

Silver Ninety Three 01-15-2003 10:36 PM

The greddy type R sounds nice. Its what I run on my car. I have them for $210 if you are interested.

94touring 01-15-2003 10:50 PM

Yeah, i'll more than likely order it from your website. What is the difference between the universal and the one specifically for the 3rd gen?

94touring 01-15-2003 10:54 PM

Oh and I just read the description and see that under regular driving I will still experience surge. I guess that isn't a problem as long as you're in low boost, still seems like it would be bad for the turbo.

vosko 01-15-2003 11:27 PM

i have the type R. i have no compressor surge. i adjusted it so it opens at as little as 1psi

Silver Ninety Three 01-16-2003 12:11 PM

I only get a tiny bit of surge when I make like 2 psi and then let off. Its because the spring is designed to hold higher boost. It isn't a problem though. Order it through me so I make commission. Faster than ordering it through the site as well. I only see the universal listed. That means it needs to welded into the intorcooler piping. The car specific ones are usually for stock turbos and come with an adaptor piece.

94touring 01-16-2003 04:29 PM

Ok cool, i'll order straight from you then. I haven't gotten a chance to play with the spring and hose on the apexi bov, so give me a couple days. Welding to the pipe is no biggie, thats how I have the apexi on there anyhow.

93 R1 01-16-2003 06:49 PM

mmmmmm, compressor surge

94touring 01-18-2003 02:37 PM

Well i fixed the surge after playing with that spring. There is a very slight amount, but barely noticable now. Silver: i'm gona have my friend get that bov from you anyways here in the near future.
