I have a 3rd gen twin turbo rx-7, just bought it about 9mos. ago and I am considering upgrading the twins, or converting to a single. I need some input though I want to know, if you have a singleturbo rx-7 w/13b motor what you think, and if you use nitrous to spool up with and how much. also if anyone knows anything about draining all the fluids from a new rx-7 and running teflon through it for a few hundred miles if you have done it and what you think because I heard if you do this you can get another 2000 rpm out of the motor due to less friction, anyone heard of this?

unless you go with a HUGE turbo... N2O isn't needed to help spool it... and you run the additional risks of blowing the engine. There are quite a few things that have to be upgraded when you go single turbo, unless the car is heavily modified already for the twins.

using teflon?...never heard of anything like that.. i'd be willing the say that it is complete bullshit. I have some snake oil and magic beans for sale though..

snake oil and magic beans huh, ya know I might trust that more than alot of the crazy **** I hear about.

the motor is street ported and the downpipe upgraded many mods but just wanting some input on the single turbo

It looks like it's ready for single, upgrade your fuel system, stand alone ECU (if you don't have 1) bring it to ROTARY SHOP. Let it rips

your in florida right? I think the guy that owned that car is on here at times.

don't know about the teflon idea, but I don't like it. There is already minimal friction in a rotary to begin with, that even if you were able to see a gain it would be minimal.

As far as a single, the divided cast manifold that hks makes for 3rd gens are great, couple that with a standard type wastegate and like a to4s or gt40 from cheap turbo should be a pretty competant setup. Good power, and would spool quick enough to make it very streetable.

I'm a big fuel buff tho. If you want your power to last, you fuel system has to be built like a brick shithouse. Larger capacity pump, larger hard line, high capacity/high flow fuel filter, and larger lines and rails in the engine bay. Many people have gotten by with using stock lines and rails, but I wouldn't want to chance my $3000 dollar motor, 2500 dollar turbo setup, because I didn't want to spend 700 dollars on a fuel system.

fuel pumps sound cool anyways

I wonder where this idea of N20 helping to spool the turbo came about? N20 let's your engine get thru the rpms faster but does not let you spool earlier.

I know that car, that was Eddie's (Evot23) car. Good to see that you are on the forums and welcome.

If memory is correct Eddie did have quite a bit done. The only think left for him to do was to go single. As said above the fuel system will need to be up graded, contact Eddie and ask him if that was done or not. I know he had the pfc and other mods done so you don't have much to get to convert to a single setup.
