what would be the best turbo set up for a turboII? the car would be set up for daily driving/drift looking to make around 400hp, iv seen alot of fc t78 kits for cheep but that would prob lag like a bitch, looking for somthing that will spool up fast. Also will be running a fmic, upgraded cooling system. im guessing it will also need a new fuel pump, bigger injectors, and a new ecu, everyone here seems to like haltek? sorry if its a mis-spell. im new to rotary's and just looking for some info before i jump in too far. sorry if this is a stupid question https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

400hp isnt gonna happen over night. Fuel system alone is gonna run you big bucks. Think of it like this ... here is my list of things i bought for my car when switching to a big single, and i even left some out ... and those are the cheapest prices i can get ... with deals from friends and such.
Porting tool and templates -- 120 rebuild kit -- 1000 wastegate -- 250-300 3rd gen intake/tb -- 250 injectors -- 350 fuel lines -- 150 (if you go SS lines, you will pay about 250 for line) (with SS lines) Fittings -- 150-200 fuel pump(s) -- 200-250 fuel rail -- 200 fpr -- 130 fuel filter -- 70 ecu -- (your haltec is about 1200) with accessories look at 1700 exhaust plumbing -- 150-200 (you still need a catback) radiator -- 350-400 electric fan -- 30 (from a junk yard) all ignition -- 300 (optional) clutch/pressure plate -- 400-500 flywheel -- 200-400 laptop -- 200 (ebay) boost controller -- 300 guages -- 120 So as you can see, it adds up quick. Its about 6500 .. and thats without the turbo :-p If you buy a kit for like 3k it will help, but you need to upgrad the fuel, cooling, clutch, and ecu still ... which is quite a few grand. just keep that in mind before you jump into it. |
i know its not gonna happen over night that is just where i wanna end up lol

hey ace, how was the gas mileage on the 4 1600's? I was thinking about keeping the stock 550's and running 2 1600 secondary so i can keep some fuel economy at lower rpm's. But I mean, can you tune the 1600's to not dump sooooo much fuel that you can actually get decent mileage out of them?
And he ran 380 rwhp with stock cooling system, stock fuel lines, stock clutch? what ecu? |

And he ran 380 rwhp with stock cooling system, stock fuel lines, stock clutch? what ecu? The friend who made 385 RWHP had a TO4E, stock fuel lines, a Supra TT pump, stock cooling system, and an ACT 6 puck clutch. He was using my old wolf 3D version 3. Going with a better radiator would be a good idea, but it depends on where you live. Are you still planning on doing the 20B? If so, then some of my statements may need to be corrected. |
20b is gonna wait ... im going with a big street port with opened exhaust ports a little more. Does anyone make a primary fuel rail that holds 1600's? Or is that a custom job. I think it should spool fine with oil flowing. I guess we'll find out soon enough. lol...
Im trying to get it all running for the least amount of money possible, then from there on, i will upgrade more parts. You think the stock fuel lines can hold 450-500whp? |
