Recently in the last couple of months I've dusted off a project I bought a couple years ago(put a new clutch in, changed fliuds, ect.) It is a 86 rx7 with a rebuilt street ported turbo II block out of a 91. Currently it is just N/A. What I am trying to find out is what wouldd be the proper route of turning it into a turbo II.

Any advice anybody could offer would be awesome.

we need to know what other mods are also already in the car. it takes a lot of prerequisit upgrades prior to going single turbo, especially if planning on going big.

what ECU are you running?

what is your fuel system set-up?

what, if any, ignition system mods are there?

Well I may have to get back to on the ECU for exactly what it is. I know it has been mapped though, just not 100 percent to what specs. This is gunna be the first turbo set up I've ever built so I'm not planning to go huge. Just enough to make the car a bit more mean. I belive the injectors have been upgraded as well.

Stock turbo or a bigger unit?

Is the car running the turbo intake manifolds or n/a?

I was thinking of just going with the stock set up for the time being. Its running n/a manifolds right now.

are you planning on "acquiring" a stock tII turbo from somewhere? beware of shaft play, i've demolished two sets of stock twins on my FD.........

I've got a couple of sets I can get ahold of. So converting it over is a good possability though?

Can you run a aftermarket intercooler and piping on a stock TII upper manifold?

thatpoorguy 02-22-2010 10:49 PM

it is.......with a tII ecu, and all tII fuel system parts to match. don't skimp out on the fuel system. lean it out and get a detonation and your apex seals are done. as far as the intercooler and piping, i don't see why not but i'm not exactly sure what the stock hardware setup is like on the tII. some help from a second gen driver? anyone
