Here's a preview of my little experiment.

Too early to tell if everything will work as planned.

Comments welcome.

Holy turbo's Batman! That thing is higher than the ALT! Are they different sized? Looks like it will be pretty fun:)

Is there one external and one internal turbo??

BigTurbo74 07-15-2003 09:27 AM

wtf......

banzaitoyota 07-15-2003 09:38 AM

How about a pic of the manifold?

You mean wastegate, right? At present, both will use the

existing internal wastegates.

That thing is higher than the ALT! Are they different sized?

Yes, in that pic it was too high. Its lower now. And, yes, the turbos

are different. More precisly, the turbines are identical S5. The

compressors are: one stock S5 and the other of unknown origin

(came off a jap parts car ) -no markings. Measures closest to a

T3 H-trim. Eventually we'll upgrade the stock S5 to an h-trim.

How about a pic of the manifold?
Hehe. Not made

yet. We have to make sure the turbos will fit in the car first, then

make sure no parts of the manifold or downpipes collide. We're

using preheater hose to mock-up the pipes, and drive the design

of the bracket that will help hold the weight (we don't think a manifold

alone will be able to support two turbos - even if we use .177 pipe).

Pick below shows how we're mocking-up.

The theory is, the ability of the two turbos to flow massive amounts of

exhaust will keep the back pressure low. The motor is half-bridged with

big exh ports, so we're conceeding it will be a dog below 4k rpm. But,

once the rev's come up we think the twins will move in lots of (unheated)

air, at relatively low boost, and the large exhaust capacity will keep

backpressure down, letting the bridgeport work well. We'll see....

Inspiration came from the pic below. I saw it on the the ausrotary. com forums . Later I

found the car's home at this japanese tuner shop.

what turbos are they?

IGY 07-16-2003 09:38 PM

They look like GT30/37S's. That is the KSP drag FC. I think it runs mid 9's. Their FD has bigger turbos, GT32/40's I think.

You are gonna be pleasantly surprised when that thing starts taking off at 3000rpms. I actually made more power at 3000 rpms with the half bridge than I do with the side. The bridge makes more power on its own.

There's already an Australlian(forgot the name) shop that sells custom manifolds to be used with 2 stock Series 5 turbos.

That'd be the Dyson Rotary's piece.

Description says for S1,2,3. Haven't talked to them to see of its 12a or 13b-based

or if it matters - bet it does. From Dyson:

Description: Twin RX 7 Series 4 turbo exhaust manifold to suit

RX 7 Series 1, 2 & 3. Including Hi-flow turbos & Turbosmart 45mm wastegate

Stock Code No. of items Price

TURS4Twin 1 $4,750.00
