TD-06SH 25G-16.0 VS TD-07S 25G-17.0
Just needed a really quick answer to which on of these turbos will be better for the street..and how much horsepower each of them can produce at about 15 psi the most..its for a 90 turbo rx7. thanks.. |
the tdo6 is slightly smaller than the td07, as if you did not know. i know that my my friends' td07 is very laggy and big......he does not drive it on the street.......try to pm dragon....he is very knowledgeable about the different turbos, and might have some more input than simply...ONE IS BIGGER....

the number of power you can talk about is only the power that particular turbo can support, or can flow... Td06-25G can flow about 600-650 horses, and the td07-25g is about 700-800 horsepower. they both produces enough cfm to make enough power you can handle on the street, it will be up to your engine management system and the fuel system to determine what they can make on your car.
RE-Amemiya highly recommands the TD06-25G on a mild ported 13B turbo engine. It has okay response, good for the track, and not bad for the street. Td07-25G on the other hand will be more of a drag style turbo. the response will be close to a T78 from Greddy on your car 90T2. The T78 for what I understand is a hybrid improment of TD07 turbo, so it will be quite similar. |
350hp at the wheels should be quite resonable @15psi on a ported 13B-T engine with the TD06-25G set up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...closedeyes.gif

onboost- kind of on topic.... here is a pic of my 25g-TD07 but I am a little confused what turbine housing it has on it. By looking at the pic can you tell me if it's a 14cm or a 17cm housing?
|
Setzep. That pic does not fully show the turbo but its really to hard to tell from pics of the size anyways.I still love that turbo you have tho. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif

Well I learned something today. I thought both of those were pretty small turbos https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

Thanks for the complement https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
generally speaking is the apex rx6 turbo similar in terms of spooling and turbo output as the td06-25g mitsu?
|
usually the 17 or 16 cm is the measurement of the ID of the entry inlet of the turbine housing. they are off a little bit all the time because of casting, but you can just measure it and find out.

You measure the inside diameter(ID) of the intake hole on your turbo where the intake attaches too. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
the measurement is not on the intake side. The 16cm or 17cm is on the exhaust turbine side. Its the Mitsubishi way of specifying the area to radius ratio, like the Garrett turbos. To measure it will require the removal of the the turbine housing, and the "nozzle diameter" will corespond to the size of the turbine.
|
What part of the turbine housing is the "nozzle" where I can measure? I'm not getting what you are saying as you can see https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

Hey Setzep, where did you purchase this TD07-25G? I know that Greddy does not carry them in the US but only in Japan. I wanted to go with the TD07 but had difficulty finding one. Thanks.
|
I bought it used/rebuilt from Bryan at BNR supercars. It was on his daily driver (FC) but he decided to go with something a little smaller so he sold it to me. Not sure where you can get them new but I know there is a place somewhere on the net. I was on the site once but can't remember what it was called, I think they were going for around $850usd new.
